Welcome to QSI International School of Sarajevo !

The QSI International School of Sarajevo was opened in September 1997 and is an independent, nonprofit coeducational day school which offers an educational program from preschool (3 and 4-year-old class) through grade 12 for students of all nationalities.

QSIS is a wonderful combination of small classes, caring staff and involved families. Our children have a full academic schedule which challenges each student at their instructional level. The “specials” for elementary students, IT, Music, Art, PE and Foreign Language, engage the students in fun activities, helping them grow as individuals and learners. Our middle school and secondary students have the opportunity to take classes and electives that will prepare them for the rigors of university.

The School is governed by the Board of Directors of Quality Schools International, the membership of which is formed as set forth in the Bylaws of Quality Schools International. An Advisory Board, composed of parent members who reside in Sarajevo, assists the School in its operation. The School operates with the approval of the government of the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina.

QSI offers an outcome-based educational program with a curriculum based on US national standards with the addition of foreign language. Instruction, leading to individual mastery, takes advantage of small class sizes and the diverse educational backgrounds of the students. Instruction is in English. Bosnian, German, and French are taught as foreign languages beginning in the 5 YO class. Music, art, physical education, and IT are also part of the required curriculum. AP courses (Advanced Placement) are being offered to secondary students in a variety of subject areas: Calculus, Biology, World History. Additional AP courses will be offered during the 2011-2012 school year in foreign language and literature/composition. Approximately 99% of seniors plan to attend a 4-year university. QSIS is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

This year we have 22 full-time and 4 part-time faculty members, a director and a director of instruction. All classroom teachers are native English speakers with the exception of the 3-4 Year Old teacher. Teaching assistants are employed to support the classroom teachers from 3 YO to the 9 YO classes.

At the beginning of the 2010-2011 school year, enrollment was 150 (PS-grade12). QSIS represents 37 different nationalities.

QSIS rents a fully renovated Bosnian School, 7 kilometers west of the main city center in Sarajevo. There are 19 classrooms, an office suite, two computer labs, a science lab, a library, a spacious multi-purpose room, sports fields and a playground. Physical education classes are held on the outside basketball court, football field, and multi-purpose room.
